Introduction


Hi everyone! 

Welcome to my blog for LIS 568 Computer Applications in the School Library Media Center. I'm super excited to be taking this class, as it is my last semester in the Library and Information Science program! Since I'm just a tad bit extra 😂 I just wanted to start this blog off with a proper introduction! :)

My name is Ravonne Cockfield. I'm sure many people have or perhaps will question why I, as a LIS student, am taking a course that is mainly suited for school librarianship folks. Well about that, during my third semester into this program, life just completely shifted for me and I was offered a full time position as an Elementary School Librarian! This was completely unexpected and I wasn't sure if it was something I really wanted to do, being that my background in librarianship came from working in a public library and I always saw myself heading in that direction. 

However, here I am 6 months into my position as a school librarian which I absolutely love. Despite the turn of events I'm trying to finish my semester off by taking courses that align more with the work I do.  Don't you all just love the unexpected paths life puts you on? 

In my position, I work with students ranging from Pre-K - 5th grade and have loved every moment of it so far! This is my first year in this kind of library setting, with my library experience actually stemming from the years I worked in a public library from the time that I was 18 - 21 (I'm 23 now)!

Well, I guess that's all there is to know for now! I can't wait to connect with you all and contribute more to this blog.

Sora is without a doubt, a great tool that educators and students are using more and more! With its incredibly eye-catching design and easy-to-navigate interface, users can quickly find materials of interest. With books organized by themes in colorful ribbons, you can rest assured that students of a range of ages will be able to successfully use and interact with this tool.  Apart form the interface, I really enjoy the wide range of diverse titles available for readers. The collection is well-developed, and you are sure to find titles that meet your needs leisurely and in the classroom as well.
